Sawtooth Ridge
Derek and Lisa Deakins are no strangers to the bluegrass and country music world. After touring with major recording artists including Blake Shelton, Pam Tillis, The Osborne Brothers, and Whisperin' Bill Anderson, and appearing countless times on the Grand Ole Opry stage and other national venues, Sawtooth Ridge formed their own unique sound and now delight audiences across the Lowcountry with their smooth blend of vocal harmonies, polished instrumentation, and exceptional musical arrangements.
Sawtooth Ridge performs in a variety of settings, including weddings, wedding cocktail hours and receptions, farmer's markets, birthday parties, reunions, barbecues, corporate events, and many other occasions! Depending on the size of your function, Derek and Lisa perform with up to 5 members in a traditional bluegrass band setting, including banjo, mandolin, bass, guitar, and fiddle.
Derek Deakins (guitar and vocals) is a multi-instrumentalist who plays fiddle, guitar, and mandolin. Originally from East Tennessee, Derek grew up playing bluegrass and country music. After graduating from high school, Derek moved to Nashville, Tennessee where he landed his first professional job playing with James Monroe, son of Bill Monroe, the father of bluegrass music. He also played fiddle with bluegrass legends and Grand Ole Opry stars The Osborne Brothers for three years. Most recently, you may have seen Derek playing on the road with country music superstar Blake Shelton. Derek has a music degree from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, and is the Director of Orchestras at Wando High School.
Lisa Deakins (fiddle and vocals) has been playing the fiddle since she was four years old. Originally from Burlington, North Carolina, Lisa moved to Nashville after graduating from high school to further her career as a musician. While in college at Belmont University, Lisa began playing the fiddle and singing with country music superstar Pam Tillis. After graduating in 2006 with a degree in music, Lisa went on to play with Grand Ole Opry star Whisperin’ Bill Anderson. Her television appearances include Grand Ole Opry Live and the Crook and Chase Show, and she has won an International Bluegrass Music Association award for album of the year with the Daughters of Bluegrass for her contributions to the CD “Bluegrass Bouquet.”
